CHETOPA — Trudy L. Shields, 41, of Chetopa, formerly of Oswego, died at 1:33 p.m. Thursday, July 29, 2010, at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Joplin.

She was born Feb. 22, 1969, in San Bernardino, Calif., to T.L. and Wanda Lee (Neal) Martin. As a baby, her mother married Bob Scott whom Trudy always considered to be her father. She moved to Chetopa with her family when she was in the eighth grade and was a 1987 graduate of Chetopa High School.

Survivors include her mother, Wanda Scott of Chetopa; two sons, Kyle Shields and his fiancee, Lacey Gudde, of Parsons, and Ryan Shields of the home in Chetopa; a brother, Bobby Scott of Chetopa; two sisters, Becky Sanders of Chetopa and Pam Brown of Cherokee; and a sister-in-law, Crystal Scott of Chetopa.

She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Bob Scott.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Community Bible Church in Chetopa. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service.

Memorials are suggested to an educational fund for her children. These may be left at or mailed to Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 346, Chetopa, 67336.
