He was born Feb. 16, 1931, in St. Paul to John Theodore "Theo" and Catherine Cecilia "Kate" (Lancaster) Strasser. He grew up and attended schools in St. Paul, graduating from high school there in 1949.
For 25 years, he worked as a shop foreman for Eddie George Motors in Parsons, a car salesman for Sunflower Sales and was a rural mail carrier at the Parsons Post Office for 25 years.
He married Carol Mallams in 1959. They later divorced.
He loved animals and enjoyed hunting, fishing and pulling ponies. He especially enjoyed buying, selling and trading cars and raising horses and cattle.
He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons, a third-degree member of the Knights of Columbus and a 45-year member of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks, Lodge No. 527, in Parsons.
Survivors include a son, Steve Strasser and his wife, Cindy, of Altamont; two grandchildren, Seth Strasser and Danica Strasser; and a brother, Gene Strasser and his wife, Martha, of Pittsburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John Strasser; and a daughter, Stephanie Strasser.
The Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery in St. Paul. The rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. The family will receive friends immediately following the rosary.
