CHETOPA — James M. “Jim” Wilson, 94, of rural Chetopa died early Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at his home.

He was born April 21, 1916, on the family farm south of Bartlett to Chester L. and Alma (Mayfield) Wilson. He attended rural Oklahoma grade schools.

He married Genevieve Rexwinkle in 1940. They later divorced.

He married Pearl Palmer on Aug. 9, 1958. She survives.

He was a farmer.

In addition to his wife, Pearl, he is survived by a son, Rodger Wilson of rural Chetopa; three daughters, Shirley Ann Bell of rural Chetopa, Sharon Kay Thomas of Welch, Okla., and Rita Jean Grossman of Independence; a stepdaughter, Sharon Kay Mann of Coffeyville; 19 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Rita’s twin sister, Reva Lee; and a stepdaughter, Carrie Nadine Kerns.

The service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa. Burial will be in Lake Creek Cemetery near Bartlett. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
