She was born Jan. 3, 1914, 7 1/2 miles east of Parsons to Leslie and Eva (Trimble) Hamilton.
She had been employed at several garment factories and at the Kansas Ordnance Plant during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.
She was a member of First Christian Church of Parsons. She had been president of the local Gold Star Mothers and was the last surviving member of that organization. She was a member of the National Association of Retired and Veteran Railway Employees and the Katy Pacers, the auxiliary of the former Katy Hospital.
On Nov. 19, 1948, she married Harold F. “Tiny” Gale Jr. in Fayetteville, Ark. Mr. Gale, who was a locomotive engineer for the Katy Railroad, preceded her in death on Sept. 24, 1996.
Survivors include a stepson, Harold F. Gale III of Las Vegas; a daughter-in-law, Marjorie (Hoff) Hamilton Crane of Wichita; four grandsons, Mike Crane and his wife, Sheri, of Wichita, David Crane and his wife, Linda, of Hauser, Idaho, the Rev. Patrick Crane, of Farley, Mo., and Kevin Crane and his wife, Jessica, of St. Mary’s; eight great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was her husband; her son, Donald Max Hamilton, who died in 1956; an infant grandson, Donald Max Hamilton Jr.; two brothers, James Hamilton and Glen Hamilton; a sister, Mary Garretson; and Donald E. Crane, the second husband of her daughter-in-law, Marjorie.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Carson-Wall Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
