BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Delores Ilene Jefferson of Bakersfield, Calif., died on Friday, April 23, 2010, in Bakersfield, Calif.

She was born Jan. 2, 1924, in Parsons.

Ilene truly loved her family, friends, gardening and reading. She also enjoyed golfing, traveling and their trailer in Oceanside, Calif.

She was active with her church, Del Rosa United Methodist in San Bernardino, Calif., teaching her Sunday school children. She was a member of the Drum Ladies and volunteered her time wherever she was needed until her home burned down in the San Bernardino fires. She then moved to Bakersfield, Calif. She continued with her gardening, square dancing and reading and became active with Valley Baptist Church. She attended church and Sunday school classes and became a member of the Balcony Ladies group.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include two daughters, Cyndie Noblia and her finance, Les Schlais, and Sharon Mead and her husband, Richard; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three sisters-in-law, Lu Capra, Elaine Jefferson and Alice Lee Jefferson and their families.

There will be a celebration of life service at 10 a.m. Saturday at Valley Baptist Church, 4800 Fruitvale Ave. There also will be a service at 4 p.m. Sunday at Del Rosa United Methodist Church, 3350 Del Rosa Ave., San Bernardino, Calif. A private inurnment has been scheduled at Montecito Memorial Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Hoffmann Hospice and the American Cancer Society.

Mish Funeral Home of Bakersfield, Calif., is in charge of arrangements.
