ERIE — Rex E. Sanders, 56, of rural Erie died Monday at his farm. His death was unexpected.

He was born on Oct. 17, 1953, to Jacob M. and Ada E. (Beard) Sanders. He grew up on the family farm and attended Erie schools, graduating from Erie High School in 1971.

He married Susie Loveless on Aug. 9, 1986, at Tillman Chapel on the Pittsburg State University campus. She survives of the home.

He was a loving friend, son, father and husband. Rex enjoyed gardening, fishing and going to his children’s music performances. He spent his life working to improve the land on his farms and the conservation of birds and other wildlife. He was a true steward of the land. He was a devoted son in taking care of his parents.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Jacob Sanders of the home; a daughter, Flora Sanders of Lawrence; and a sister, Sue Jones of Lawrence.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

After cremation, no service is scheduled.

Memorials are suggested to the Erie Community Foundation and may be left at or mailed to Carson-Wall Funeral Home, 112 N. 26th St., P.O. Box 942, Parsons, 67357.
