She was born Oct. 7, 1909, in Parsons to Albert and Angelina (Hankins) White and moved with her family to Erie when she was 1 year old. She graduated from Erie High School in 1927.
On Dec. 14, 1935, she married Cleo I. "Slats" Wheeles at Erie. He preceded her in death on Feb. 18, 1983.
She was a member of the Erie Federated Church and enjoyed gardening, quilting and ceramics. In past years, she had been active in both the American Legion and V.F.W. auxiliaries, and she was a volunteer for the Senior Center, delivering meals on wheels.
Survivors include two sons, Larry Wheeles and his wife, Karen, of Ozawkie, and Gene Wheeles of Spring City, Pa.; and five grandsons, Barry Wheeles, his wife, Karen, and daughter, Katherine, of Overland Park, Bryan Wheeles, his wife, Jeri, and children, Leah and Jacob, of Topeka, Patrick Wheeles, his wife, Carlee, and daughter, Cassandra, of Lansdale, Pa., Michael Wheeles and his wife, Katie, of Barre, Vt., and Phillip Wheeles and his wife, Kim, of Dottown, Pa.
Also preceding her in death are four brothers, Ira White, Clarence White and John White; and a sister, Agnes Beard.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Erie Federated Church with the Revs. Larry Jordan and John Turner officiating. Burial will be in East Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service in the parlor of the church. Friends also may call at their convenience at Pierce-Carson-Wall Funeral Home from 1 to 8 p.m. Monday.
Memorials are suggested to either Erie Federated Church, the Erie War Memorial or the Erie Meals on Wheels program.
