ERIE -- Jack L. Carson, 56, of rural Erie was found dead at his home on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008. Death was unexpected.

He was born April 8, 1952, at Wichita. He was adopted as a young child by Lloyd G. and Cleo (Greenwood) Carson. He grew up in the rural Erie area, attended Stark High School and graduated from Erie High School.

Throughout his adult life he farmed and was self-employed as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator. He became a member of the Church of the Brethren in Parsons in his youth. For many years his hobby was riding motorcycles and participating in several motorcycle groups. He also had been a licensed pilot and did considerable flying in past years.

Survivors include a son, Pat Carson of rural Erie; his mother, Cleo Carson of rural Erie; a sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Jack Wilmoth of Parsons; and nephews and nieces and their spouses, Mike and Cristine Walters of Parsons, Susan and Rodney Baker of Parsons, Trent and Jodie Wilmoth of Andover; and Candace and Josh Shields of Parsons

The service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in the Valley Cemetery, northwest of Parsons. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Salvation Army and may be left at or sent to the funeral home, Box 942, Parsons, 67357.

Jack L. Boswell

Jack L. Boswell, 81, of Parsons died at 6 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008, at Labette Health in Parsons.

He was born on March 31, 1927, at Independence, Mo., to John and Iva (Barber) Boswell. He grew up at Independence and attended schools there, graduating from William Chrisman High School in 1945. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in Guam in the Pacific Theater.

He returned to Independence following his military service and worked at Westinghouse as an inspector. He then moved to Diamond, Mo., where he worked as an inspector at a manufacturing company in Neosho.

He moved to Parsons in 1969 and worked at the Kansas Ordnance Plant, Power Flame and the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center.

He was baptized in the Christian Church at Diamond and was a member of the Brown-Bishop Post No. 704 Veterans of Foreign Wars in Parsons.

He married Della E. "Betty" Edwards on Sept. 24, 1948, at Independence, Mo. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Brian Boswell of Kansas City, Mo.; and a brother, William B. "Bill" Boswell of Bixby, Okla.

Cremation will take place. No services are scheduled at this time. Memorials are suggested to the Labette Health Foundation and may be left at or mailed to Carson-Wall Funeral Home, 112 N. 26th St., P.O. Box 942, Parsons, 67357.

Arrangements are under the direction of Carson-Wall Funeral Home of Parsons.

Maudie Wheeles

ERIE -- Maudie Wheeles, 99, of Erie died at 1:35 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008, at Labette Health in Parsons. She was the widow of Cleo I. "Slats" Wheeles, who preceded her in death on Feb. 18, 1983.

Brenda L. Davidson

ERIE -- Brenda L. Davidson, 52, of Erie died at 4:15 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 27, 2008, at her home in Erie. Among survivors is her husband, Lyle, of the home.
