He was born on March 31, 1927, at Independence, Mo., to John and Iva (Barber) Boswell. He grew up at Independence and attended schools there, graduating from William Chrisman High School in 1945. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in Guam in the Pacific Theater.
He returned to Independence following his military service and worked at Westinghouse as an inspector. He then moved to Diamond, Mo., where he worked as an inspector at a manufacturing company in Neosho.
He moved to Parsons in 1969 and worked at the Kansas Ordnance Plant, Power Flame and the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center.
He was baptized in the Christian Church at Diamond and was a member of the Brown-Bishop Post No. 704 Veterans of Foreign Wars in Parsons.
He married Della E. "Betty" Edwards on Sept. 24, 1948, at Independence, Mo. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Brian Boswell of Kansas City, Mo.; and a brother, William B. "Bill" Boswell of Bixby, Okla.
Cremation will take place. No services are scheduled at this time. Memorials are suggested to the Labette Health Foundation and may be left at or mailed to Carson-Wall Funeral Home, 112 N. 26th St., P.O. Box 942, Parsons, 67357.
