He was born April 12, 1960, in Independence to Loma and Dorothy (Ash) Mitchell and attended schools in Cherryvale. He also had two years of college.
He grew up in Cherryvale.
He worked for Powder Blue, where he was a powder-coating supervisor.
Survivors include a daughter, Amanda Decker of Springfield, Mo.; a son, Jacob A. Mitchell of Glenpool, Okla.; four grandchildren; and four sisters, Debbie Rash and Gayle Cunningham, both of Cherryvale, Nancy Gordon of Carl Junction, Mo., and Joan Cox of Flagstaff, Ariz.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be at 11 a.m. today at Potts Chapel in Cherryvale. The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service.
Memorials are suggested to Hospice Care of Kansas and these may be left at or sent to the funeral home, 401 Clark, Cherryvale, 67335.
