She was born Dec. 5, 1942, at Hutchinson to Ivan and Genevieve (Cox) Wohlford. At an early age, the family moved to Severy, where she was raised and attended school. She then attended and graduated from the Wichita School of Business.
On June 3, 1962, she married Jess Ward at Severy. The couple then moved to Erie.
She was employed many years at the Neosho County Courthouse.
She was a member of Shaw Christian Church.
Survivors include two sons, Mike Ward of Erie and Steve Ward of Parsons; two daughters, Patti Ward of Indian Trail, N.C., and Linda Vaillancourt of Russell, Mass.; seven grandchildren; a brother, Lewis Wohlford of Bella Vista, Ark.; and a sister, Anna Mae Yocham of Hutchinson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jess Ward, on July 7, 2007.
The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Temple Baptist Church at Erie with the Rev. Bill Bingham officiating. Burial will be in Thayer Cemetery.
