Elaine Ryburn, 77, of Parsons died at 10:27 a.m. Thursday, April 15, 2010, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin.

She was born on Feb. 26, 1933, at Parsons to Maynard and Bessie Ann (Ryker) Wagner. She grew up on the family farm and attended country and Parsons schools, graduating from Parsons High School. She later attended the Parsons Junior College.

She married William R. “Bill” Ryburn in October 1950 at Independence. He preceded her in death on May 22, 1970.

She worked for Mid-America Inc. as an office manager for many years. She moved to Cape Coral, Fla., in 1986, where she worked as a realtor and real estate developer. She returned to Parsons in 2005.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Parsons. She was involved with the Professional Business Women’s Club and the Proud Animal Lovers Shelter. She loved her Pekingese dog, Sugar. She enjoyed growing plants and developing real estate. She cherished her family and lifelong best friend, June Puffinbarger.

Survivors include her son, Dennis Ryburn of Coffeyville; four grandchildren, Carol Thomison of Coffeyville, Joe Underwood of Kansas City, Mo., Kelli George and her husband, Shane, of Coffeyville, and Karla Bauer and her husband, Paul, of Coffeyville; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

In addition to her husband she preceded in death by her parents.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Carson-Wall Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Valley Cemetery near Parsons. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday.
