KANSAS CITY, Mo. — John Muecke, 80, Kansas City, Mo., died at his home on Monday, April 12, 2010.

He was born Feb. 24, 1930, in Humboldt to John and Lucy (Thielen) Muecke. He was raised in St. Paul, where he attended school until his junior year of high school. He joined the Army Air Corps and was a Korean War veteran.

He worked as a mechanic for TransWorld Airlines in the Kansas City area for 33 years before he retired in 1991.

Survivors include his children, Nancy Hemenway of Kansas City, Mo., Stephanie Early of Miami, Texas, Debby Helton of Leawood, Brenda Herbert of North Pole, Alaska, Cecelia Muecke of Pleasant Valley, Mo., Charles Muecke of Kansas City, Mo., Jeff Harper of Kansas City, Mo., Kay Mimms of Tyler, Texas, and Charlene Matthews of Amarillo, Texas; two sisters, Jo Ann Sproul of Englewood, Colo., and Mary Jane Harper of Des Moines, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and his wives, Barbara (Brackeen) and Ruth (Davison).

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Kansas City, Mo. Burial will be in Hamilton, Mo., at 2 p.m. Friday. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the church. A rosary will follow the visitation.

Heartland Cremation and Burial Society of Raytown, Mo., was in charge of arrangements.
