FORT SCOTT — Oliver Charles Wright, 75, of Fort Scott died Sunday, April 4, 2010, at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Joplin.
He was born June 4, 1934, in Fort Scott to Lester and Agnes (Knoblich) Wright. He attended Fort Scott High School and later graduated from Faith Bible Academy in Camdenton, Mo. He later attended bible colleges at both Fort Worth, Texas, and Omaha, Neb.
He married Beverly Smith on Oct. 30, 1955, at the Grace Baptist Tabernacle in Fort Scott.
He worked for H&R Block Tax Service and had served as a district manager in Parsons. He retired after 30 years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly, of the home in Fort Scott; two daughters, Sherry Lynn Griffing of Niceville, Fla., and Penny Kay Cimino of Fountain, Colo.; five grandchildren; and a brother, Ernest Wright of Branson, Mo.; and a sister, Mary Usher of Seattle.
He was preceded in death by a son, Terry Wayne Wright; and a daughter, Vicky Ann Wright.
The service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Cheney Witt Chapel in Fort Scott. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
