He was born Sept 15, 1950, in Columbus to Rufus and Dorothy Hale.
He spent his life as a farmer and rancher 10 miles southwest of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife, Dorane Hale; a daughter, Jill Lawellin of Chetopa; two sons, Seth Hale of Columbus and Chad Hale of Manhattan; two sisters, Peggy Drake of Grove, Okla., and Patti Bartholomew of Joplin; and five grandchildren.
The family will have a private service later.
Abbott Funeral Home in Baxter Springs is in charge of arrangements.
