He was born Aug. 6, 1957, in Parsons to E. Dale and Roena (Ryman) Houston. He attended Edna Elementary School and Labette County High School in Altamont for two years before graduating from Wichita West High School.
He worked as a construction superintendent.
He married Jeanette Thornberry in March 1991. They later divorced.
Survivors include a son, Joal Houston of Parsons; a stepson, Matt Mullin of Bartlett; and two sisters, Deborah Palmer of Nixa, Mo., and Nena Malen of Clever, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his father, E. Dale Houston; and his mother, Roena Brown.
The graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Lake Creek Cemetery near Bartlett. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont.
