ERIE — Kenneth B. Kinne, 88, of rural Erie died at 7:17 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, at his home. He had been in failing health.
He was born Feb. 22, 1922, in Erie to Orton A. and Flora (Burlingame) Kinne. He attended rural elementary school there and was a 1939 graduate of Erie High School. He was a farmer and stockman his entire life.
He enjoyed dancing and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He married Mary Ann Yockey on May 15, 1942, in Pittsburg. She preceded him in death on May 17, 2005.
Other survivors include a son, Roger Kinne of rural Erie; two daughters, Nancy LaRue and Pamela Thiesing, both of rural Erie; six grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Cale Kinne, on March 30, 2002; a brother, Orton Kinne Jr.; and two sisters, Nell George and Ava George.
Following cremation, there will be a graveside service at 2 p.m. Saturday at Neosho County Memorial Park Cemetery on West 21st Street in Chanute. Memorials are suggested to Hospice Care of Kansas and may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, 67357.
