GUTHRIE, Okla. — William Andrew “Bill” Darkis Sr., 73, of Guthrie, Okla., died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, in Guthrie.

He was born May 24, 1936, in Parsons to Dave and Frances (Taylor) Darkis. He attended Parsons schools and served in the U.S. Air Force.

He married Nan Willhoite on Feb. 21, 1959, in Wichita. She survives of the home.

Mr. Darkis was a substitute teacher in Millwood Schools in Oklahoma City until he had a stroke in 1994.

Other survivors include four sons, Kevin, William Jr., Jeffrey and Eric; 14 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

The service will be at 2 p.m. today at Macedonia Baptist Church in Guthrie. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery.
