VINITA, Okla. — Jerry Lee Barker, 74, of Vinita, Okla., died Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010, at Craig General Hospital in Vinita.

He was born June 26, 1935, in Bartlett to John C. and Dorothy D. (Sanderson) Barker.

After his schooling, he served with the U.S. Army.

In 1965, he married Anellia Derkowski in Oswego. She survives of the home.

He worked in law enforcement for more than 25 years and was the Cherokee Indian marshall for most of that time.

Other survivors include a son, Jerry Wayne Barker of Oswego; two daughters, Bonnie Gilley of Salina, Okla., and Pam James of Parsons; a brother, Daniel Barker of Garden Grove, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

No service is planned. The family will receive family and friends at the home, 215 S. Foreman, Vinita, Okla.

Thomas Funeral Home, Welch, Okla., is in charge of arrangements.
