CHERRYVALE — Kenneth E. Smith, 86, of Cherryvale died Monday, Feb. 8, 2010, at his home in Cherryvale.

He was born April 19, 1923, in Cherryvale to John Leonard and Lena Leola (Gilliland) Smith. He grew up in Cherryvale.

He was a career military, serving in the Air Force from February 1943 until he retired March 31, 1965.

He married Patricia Ann Dotson in Cherryvale on April 5, 1947. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Davey Smith of Blue Springs, Mo.; three daughteres, Vicki Kirby of Keswick, Va., Pam Baker of Fayetteville, Ark., and Teresa Smith of Independence; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Potts Chapel in Cherryvale. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where friends may call after noon Thursday.

The family suggests memorials to Disabled American Veterans, the Arthritis Foundation or the National Emphysema Foundation. These may be sent to the funeral home.
