WALNUT — Josephine M. Guy, 87, of Walnut died at 7:50 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010, at Prairie Mission Retirement Village in St. Paul, where she entered in December 2009.
She was born July 2, 1922, at Walnut to Orville and Mabel (Craig) Lowe. She attended high school for three years in Stark and graduated from Savonburg High School in Savonburg.
She married Lloyd B. Guy on Dec. 30, 1939, at Lamar, Mo. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in December. He survives of the home.
She was a farm wife, and they were lifelong farmers in rural Walnut.
She enjoyed her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, gardening and raising chickens.
She was a Christian.
Survivors include her husband, Lloyd, of the home; her daughters, Diantha Lusebrink and her husband, Richard, of Queen Creek, Ariz., Donna Gillard and her husband, Little, of Girard and Linda Sartin of Girard; a son, James Guy and his wife, Elaine, of Walnut; eight grandchildren, Greg Fager, Michelle (Guy) Robinson, Brian Guy, Johnna (Stolte) Roland, Andrew Stolte, Jolene (Roberts) Batalia, Jessica (Roberts) Johnson and William Sartin; and 12 great-grandchildren, Patrick Fager, Edwin Fager, Cole Robinson, Matthew Robinson, Carson Roland, Avery Roland, Samantha Guy, Ben Guy, Charles Johnson, Eli Johnson, Caleb Johnson and Aiden Batalia.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Richard Lowe; six sisters, Ruby Watts, Ferrol Kelsey, Nola Nelson, Hazel Brooks, Dixie Chincella and Dorothy Conner; a grandson, David Fager; and a granddaughter, Julia Roberts.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard, where friends may call after 1 p.m. Wednesday. Mrs. Guy will then be cremated, and family graveside service will be in Bethel Cemetery near Erie at a later date.
