EUCHA, Okla. — Donna LaVon Spencer, 78, died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, at her home near Eucha, Okla.

She was born on April 9, 1931, in Salina to Floyd and Gladys (McCadden) Hancock.

Mrs. Spencer was a registered nurse and worked at Parsons State Hospital and Training Center for 14 years.

She married Donovan Earl Spencer on May 11, 1950. They met while working in the Mills Brothers Circus. He preceded her in death in 1983.

Survivors include two children, John Spencer of Jay, Okla., and Dallas Stevens of Parsons; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and her brother, Dayle Hancock of Chandler, Okla.

She was preceded by death by a daughter, Debra Groff, in 1997.

Mrs. Spencer was cremated. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. today at Mount Hermon Church, Jay, Okla. Burial of her cremains will be in Fairview Cemetery at Cherryvale.

The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society. Funeral Services of Grand Lake is in charge of arrangements.
