PONCA CITY, Okla. — Hattie Marie Libbey Leyda, 102, a longtime resident of Westminster Village in Ponca City, Okla., died Monday morning, Jan. 25, 2010, at Westminster Village.

Hattie was born April 7, 1907, in the Eureka Springs, Ark., area, to Joel Harrison and Stella May (Bridgeman) Libbey. She was raised by her father’s cousin, Clarence Libbey and his wife, Ada, in Altamont.

She was a graduate of Labette County Community High School in Altamont.

She married Connell L. “Don” Leyda on July 17, 1927, in Lawrence. He preceded her in death in 1983.

She had worked at Kansas Ordinance Plant in Parsons.

Survivors include two grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and her sister, Lucile Novak of Newhall, Calif.

Others preceding her in death include her son, Donald L. Leyda in 1980; and a brother, John “Jack” Libbey.

The service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Altamont First Baptist Church, 400 Wabash. A graveside committal service is planned for 2 p.m. Friday at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Parsons. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Grace Memorial Chapel, Ponca City, Okla.
