CHETOPA — Elizabeth “Mae” Lessley, 88, of Chetopa died at 2:20 p.m. Monday, Jan. 18, 2010, at Chetopa Manor.

She was born May 13, 1921, in Chetopa to Charlie and Hattie (Hurd) Miles. She grew up and attended schools in Chetopa and was a graduate of Chetopa High School.

She married Miles W. Lessley on April 19, 1941. He preceded her in death Feb. 8, 1994.

She worked as a secretary for 30 years at Eastern State Hospital in Vinita, Okla.

Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Duane Lessley, on Sept. 14, 1984.

The service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Chetopa. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
