SOLOMON -- Hazel E. Quathamer, 97, of Solomon died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008, at the Village Manor, Abilene.

She was born May 23, 1911, at Hallam, Neb., to William W. and Lydia (Glebe) Vitousek. She attended school there.

She married Geard J. Quathamer on Nov. 20, 1930, in El Dorado. He preceded her in death.

She was a CNA and worked in Erie, Chanute and Iola.

Survivors include a son, Geard Quathamer of Wabaunsee; two daughters, Joan Hoefler of Westphalia and Geraldine Criswell of Solomon; 14 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Others preceding her in death are a daughter, Lavina Cole; and a grandson, Shawn Cole.

The service was on Tuesday at First Christian Church in Abilene. Graveside services and burial will be at 1:30 p.m. today in Spring Hill Cemetery in Parsons.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
