CHANUTE — Lola Mae Edwards, 83, of Chanute died Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010, at Chanute Health Care Center.

Lola Mae was born in Thayer on Feb. 13, 1926, the daughter of Orval Turner and Blanche Lucille (Carson) Woolery. She grew up in Thayer, graduating from Thayer High School.

She married Fay Orley Edwards on Oct. 15, 1947, in Chanute. He preceded her in death in 1982.

She was a homemaker.

Lola Mae was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, the Barathea Class of Otterbein United Methodist Church and the Hereford Association. She was a Girl Scout leader, a member of the Neosho Memorial Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and volunteered at nursing homes.

She was proud to be a farm girl and had a love for the outdoors and traveling.

She is survived by a daughter, Linda Butcher and her husband, Stu, of Chanute; a son, Roger Edwards and his wife, JoAnne, of Chanute; a granddaughter, Jana Butcher of Lawrence; a stepgrandson, Adam Johnson of Reno, Nev.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother, Herschel Woolery.

The service will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Otterbein United Methodist Church, Chanute. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorials in her name may be made to Otterbein United Methodist Church and may be left with the funeral home.
