SAN LEANDRO, Calif. — Robert W. Taylor, 85, of San Leandro, Calif., a former Parsons resident, died Dec. 20, 2009.

He was born April 23, 1924, in Springfield, Ill., to Clarence and Ada (Ealy) Taylor. The family moved to the Hopewell area, southwest of Parsons, in 1926. He grew up and attended schools in Parsons.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy. In 1952 he married Doris Bagby of McCune, and they moved to San Leandro, where he worked in the dry cleaning business many years. Doris preceded him in death in 1998. After her death, he married Daisy Larmour.

He was active in the Neighborhood Church of Castro Valley and in Gideons International. He also volunteered at Hosanna Boys Ranch for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Daisy Taylor of the home; two sons, Tim Taylor and his wife, Roberta, of Pleasanton, Calif., and Monte Taylor of Sacramento, Calif.; two daughters, Jane Malone and her husband, Mike, of Castro Valley, Calif., and Jill Wilson and her husband, Dave, of Livermore, Calif.; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Lois Mae Taylor of Parsons.

Preceding him in death was a brother, Vernon Taylor, of Parsons.

Burial was on Dec. 29 at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery. The memorial service was on Saturday at Neighborhood Church in Castro Valley.
