Othelia M. Wester, 87, of rural Parsons died at 5:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 4, 2010, at Labette Health.

She was born Jan. 22, 1922, to Walter Scott and Dorsie Ruby (Fahler) Harden in rural Edna.

On Dec. 2, 1941, she married T.E. Wester in the Panama Canal Zone. He preceded her in death on March 4, 2000.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Edna and recently had attended Galesburg United Methodist Church. In earlier years, she participated in the South Mound Friendship Club, Labette Health Auxiliary, Sunflower Sportsmen’s Club and Audubon Society and had also served as a 4-H leader. She loved crocheting.

Survivors include two sons, James Wester of the home, rural Parsons, and Roger Wester and his wife, Ruby, of Jay, Okla.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Melvin Harden and his wife, Dean, of Welch, Okla.; and a sister, Anita Shufelt and her husband, Verl, of rural Edna.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Wilbur and Larry Harden.

The service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont. Burial will be in Edna Elm Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Thursday.
