WICHITA — Richard H. Cook, 86, died Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010.

He was born May 31, 1923, in Neosho County to Thomas and Myrtle Cook.

He was a retired police officer with the Wichita Police Department and a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He married Mary Jo Freeman on April 27, 1943, in Erie.

Survivors include his sons, Phillip and his wife, Laura, of Hutchinson and Mark and his wife, Judy, of Wichita; daughters, Judith Ann, Rebecca Sue and Deborah Ruth, all of Wichita; grandchildren, Jeff of Orange Park, Fla., Jason of Hutchinson, Michael, Heather Blissett and Steven, all of Wichita; great-grandchildren, Kiersten, Allison, Christian, Ryan, Victoria, Christina and Jaxson; three nephews; and a niece.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jo; a son, Richard Michael; and his siblings.

The service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Rivercrest Free Methodist Community Church, 126 N. Emporia, Wichita. The graveside service will be at 4 p.m. Friday at South Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Cochran Mortuary, 1411 N. Broadway, Wichita.
