Sabrina D. Burnett, 31, of Parsons died at 11:55 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin following a courageous two-year battle with cancer.

She was born June 21, 1978, in Garnett to Garry R. and Roberta N. (Lockwood) Kirkland. She grew up and attended schools in Garnett and was a 1996 graduate of Garnett High School.

She married Michael Burnett on May 16, 2009, in Parsons. She worked as a day care provider at Amanda’s Angels Daycare in Parsons.

Sabrina was an adoring mother who especially enjoyed spending time with her two sons, Blain and Corbin. She also enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include her husband, Michael Burnett, of the home; two sons, Blain and Corbin Smith of the home; a stepson, Justin Burnett of Parsons; a stepdaughter, Serenity Burnett of Parsons; her mother, Roberta Sharp of Parsons; her father, Garry Kirkland of Garnett; her stepfather, Ray Sharp of Parsons; her brother, Russell Kirkland Jr. of Garnett; and a half-brother, David Sharp of Parsons.

The memorial service will be at 7:30 p.m. today at Parsons Municipal Auditorium. The children of Sabrina request that those attending the service please wear blue jeans and pink shirts.
