COFFEYVILLE — Kenneth Lee Hearson, 70, of Coffeyville died Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
He was born on April 25, 1939, at Parsons to Oscar and Gladys (Murray) Hearson. He grew up and attended school in Labette County, graduating from Labette County Community High School in 1957.
In March 1958 he married Carolyn Fryar. He started working at Funk Manufacturing in December 1957 and worked there until his early retirement in 1995. He worked at Coffeyville SEKTAM from 1997 to March 2009. While at SEKTAM he was involved with its Relay For Life team.
Mr. Hearson was scoutmaster of Troop 947 of Coffeyville from 1973 to 1983.
He was a member of Eagle Rock Ministries Church of Coffeyville.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn, of the home; four sons, Terry Hearson and his wife, Janie, Tim Hearson and his wife, Kim, all of Coffeyville, Todd Hearson and his wife, Wanda, of Wichita and Tracy Hearson and his wife, Denise, of Andover; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Earl Hearson and his wife, Marsha, of Parsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Melvin Ray Hearson; and two infant grandchildren.
The service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Grace Fellowship in Coffeyville with Pastor Brent Wills officiating. Burial will be in Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville.
Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Friday at the David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
