Jerald L. “Jerry” Larery, 56, of Parsons died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009, at his place of employment, Power Flame. He had been in his usual health and death was unexpected.
He was born Aug. 1, 1953, at Parsons to Paul W. and Barbara A. (Williams) Larery. He grew up and attended school in Parsons and graduated from Parsons High School in 1971. He attended Pittsburg State University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He worked for John Deere for a time. He also worked for the Labette County Medical Center for a time and had been with Power Flame for about 10 years.
Mr. Larery was very close to his family and enjoyed spending time with his daughters and grandchildren. He also enjoyed going to Joplin every Sunday to visit his mother. He enjoyed collecting coins and had attended Faith United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Parsons Masonic Lodge No. 117, A.F.&A.M.
He married Vicki Hills on March 13, 1973. They later divorced. He married Debbie Jones on March 5, 1982. They later divorced.
Survivors include two daughters, Katie Hizey and her husband, Sean, and Alicia Essig and her husband, Jared, all of Parsons; four grandchildren, Elizabeth, Meagan, Morgan and Rebecca Hizey; his mother, Barbara Larery of Joplin; a brother, Bill Larery and his wife, Patricia, of Carthage, Mo.; a sister, Dawn Larery of Pittsburg; and two aunts, Sue Peters of Parsons and Frances Light of Yates Center.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home. Burial will be at Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
