CHERRYVALE — Otho R. Johnson, 74, of rural Cherryvale died Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009, at his home.

He was born Oct. 13, 1935, in Brosley, Mo., to Roscoe and Lectie (Boyles) Johnson.

He worked for Gilbert Central in Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas as a heavy equipment operator.

He married Joyce Davis on March 23, 1970, in Eureka.

Survivors include six sons, Dolan Johnson of DeSoto, Mo., Lloyd Johnson of Eureka, Glynn Johnson of Emporia, Ronnie Wells of Leon, Jason Johnson of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Heath Johnson of El Dorado; five daughters, Sheila McClung of Lake Okachobe, Fla., Teresa Woodham of Ozark, Ala., Jody McCollum of Fall River, Terry Franks of Lakin and Jamie Johnson of rural Cherryvale; 23 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Ruben Johnson of Bloomfield, Mo.; and two sisters, Ginny Colburn of Doniphan, Mo., and Mildred Kempsty of Detroit.

The service will be at 2 p.m. today at Potts Chapel in Cherryvale. Burial will be in Harmony Grove Cemetery. Friends may call before the service at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials to Hospice Care of Kansas, which may be left with the funeral home.
