KATY, Texas — Benicia (Nagle) Lyle, 85, of Katy, Texas, formerly of Parsons, died Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009, in Houston.
She was born in Parsons on Jan. 12, 1924, to Charles Arthur and Bernice (McKinney) Nagle. She grew up in Parsons and graduated from Parsons High School in 1942. She was a member of the First Baptist Church while living in Parsons.
On Dec. 11, 1942, she married James C. Lyle in Parsons. They lived in various places before retiring to Overland Park. Mr. Lyle preceded her in death on Dec. 12, 1999. After his death she moved to Katy, Texas. She was wanting to be in “Katy by the age of 80.”
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Katy and of the United Methodist Women. She had been a member of the Order of Eastern Star for more than 60 years and had been a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority since 1961. She also was a member of the A.A.R.P. In 1983 she achieved the title of certified professional secretary.
Survivors include a daughter, Marsha Landry and her husband, Clet, of Katy, Texas; a son, Rodger Lyle and his wife, Sue, of Houston; a daughter-in-law, Margaret Lyle of Houston; two grandchildren, Sandy Dreiling and her husband, Wesley, of Seattle, and Robert Lyle and his wife, Jennifer, of Missouri City, Texas.
She was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Dean Lyle, on Feb. 21, 1994; and her parents.
The service will be at 2 p.m. today at Schmidt Funeral Home in Katy, Texas. Burial will be in Houston National Cemetery on Wednesday.
