Marjorie Mary Jane Howard, 95, of Erie died at 9:50 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009, at her home.
She was born March 22, 1914, in Cherokee to William Lewis and Nancy Pearl (Jones) Stough. She attended Cherokee schools and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 1939 from Kansas State Teachers College of Pittsburg.
She married Everett L. Howard on Feb. 1, 1942. He preceded her in death on Sept. 25, 1967.
She later worked for Charles Forsyth and Robert Pennington as manager of the Locke Abstract Co. She retired in 1990.
She is survived by a son, Frank of Nashville; a daughter, Nancy Martin of Erie; and three grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her oldest child, Chief Petty Officer Charles Emory Howard, who died during the Vietnam War; a stillborn daughter; and her youngest child, Laurie Howard Meyer.
The body has been cremated. A memorial service is pending under the direction of Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
