COLUMBUS — Charles R. Bolen, 77 of Columbus died at 3:35 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, at Maude Norton Hospital in Columbus.
He was born Oct. 27, 1932, in Oswego to Robert Lee and Elva (Esther) Bolen. He attended Oswego schools and was a 1950 graduate of Oswego High School.
He married Shirley Tedlock-Reid on Dec. 13, 1977, in Columbus. She survives of the home.
Mr. Bolen worked for himself for 44 years as a brick mason, retiring in 1997.
Other survivors include three sons, Brian Bolen of Topeka, Bruce Bolen of Council Grove and Steve Reid of Farmington Hills, Mich.; three daughters, Donna Wixon of Baxter Springs, Lisa Weir of Arma and Candy Kronson of Lavonia, Ga.; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jean Lutz of Oswego.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Columbus. Inurnment of cremains will be at Park Cemetery.
