Elsie C. Kite, 95, a longtime Parsons resident, died at 8:55 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009, at Elmhaven East, where she entered shortly before her death.

She was born May 13, 1914, at Golden, Mo., to Henry and Mary Belle (Stamps) Allen. The family moved to Thayer in 1920 and to Parsons in 1924.

On May 29, 1934, she married Lawrence T. Kite at Girard. He preceded her in death on Oct. 26, 1986.

Mrs. Kite was a member of First Christian Church of Parsons. She was an avid quilter and had made nearly 5,000 quilts. Her quilts have been sent to every state in the United States and several foreign countries. For several years she and her sister spent the winter months in south Texas. She was a happy person who enjoyed spending time with friends and family.

Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Priscilla Kite of Parsons; a grandson, Kevin Kite and his wife, Lillie, of Vinita, Okla.; four great-grandchildren, Jared Kite, Dustin Kite, Adam Kite, all of Parsons, and Apryl Lawhorn and her husband, Cory, of Chelsea, Okla.; two great-great-grandchildren, Carson and Avery Lawhorn of Chelsea, Okla.; a brother, Russell Allen of Parsons; and a sister, Lola Sutherland of Galena.

She was preceded in death by a son, Merle Kite, in 1989; three infant children; three brothers; and one sister.

The service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Valley Cemetery northwest of Parsons. Friends may call at Carson-Wall Funeral Home at their convenience.
