HOUSTON — Matthew Joseph (Joe) McCall, 73, of Houston died Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, in Houston after a lengthy illness.
He was born March 7, 1936, in St. Paul to Thomas Paul and Mary Ethel (Perl) McCall. He moved to Parsons in 1950, where he graduated from high school. He retired after serving honorably in the Army for 20 years in various countries around the world. He later retired from Harris County, Texas, after 16 years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Hollie; daughters, Mary Manasco and her husband, Robert, of Houston, Rebecca “Lynn” Wagner and her husband, Norman, of Tecumseh, Okla., and Kathy Hale and her husband, Dave, of Coldsprings, Texas; eight grandchildren, Daniel, Rachel and Sara Trevino, Chris, Kylie and Mariah Hale, Jade and Bryce Wagner; a great-grandchild, Ethan Wilborn; three sisters, Helen Ellis and her husband, Myron, Eileen Gofourth and her husband, Glenn, of Parsons, and Janne Best and her husband, Albert, of Springfield, Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter Rose Marie, three brothers; Paul, Edward and Roger; and two sisters; Patricia Robbins and Mary Ethel Greene.
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery in St. Paul.
