Kristy Lynn Casteel, 25, of Parsons died Monday, Nov. 3, 2008, at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan., following a courageous battle with cystic fibrosis.

She was born Nov. 2, 1983, in Texarkana, Texas, to Gary Casteel and Karla Cox. She grew up and attended elementary school in Flower Mound, Texas, was a 2002 graduate of Labette County High School. She had attended Labette Community College.

She loved cats.

Survivors include her mother, Karla Cox of Parsons; her father and second mother, Gary and Donna Casteel of Colleyville, Texas; her fiancee, Tylor Abshere of Parsons; two brothers, Patrick Casteel and his wife, Veronica, of Anna, Texas, and Taylor Staggs of Colleyville, Texas; a sister, Jennifer Fogle and her husband, Matt, of Colleyville, Texas; a nephew, Logan Casteel; a niece, Eden Fogle; her maternal grandparents, Leonard and Jean Nickel of Bartlett, Carroll and Joyce Soles of Dundee, Ore.; her paternal grandmother, Bernice Casteel of Texarkana, Texas; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She is also survived by cats Tigger, Tatum, Riley, Felix and Pressley.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Friday at St. John's Episcopal Church in Parsons. Burial will be at a future date in Oswego Cemetery.
