Matthew "Matt" McCann, 45, of Parsons, formerly of Fort Scott, died at 8:15 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008, at his home. He had been in failing health.

He was born Sept. 27, 1963, in Fort Scott to Patrick E. and Wanda Mae (Hall) McCann. He grew up and attended schools in Fort Scott and was a graduate of Fort Scott High School.

He was employed by the Fort Scott Police Department as a dispatcher until he was injured in an automobile accident and became disabled.

Survivors include a brother, Glenn McCann.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons. Burial will be at noon at Evergreen Cemetery in Fort Scott.

The Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Parsons is in charge of arrangements.
