LOWELL -- Bonnie J. Corum, 82, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2008, at Quaker Hill Manor in Lowell, where she had been a resident since early October of this year.

She was a retired church secretary from Byers Avenue United Methodist Church.

She was born in Mound Valley to Zella and Lovell Lett on June 19, 1926. She graduated from Parsons Junior College in 1944. Following graduation, she moved to Los Angeles, where she worked for Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Co. for several years. Then she high-tailed it to Joplin, Mo., where she resided for over 40 years.

She is survived by her children, Paula Wallace of Beavercreek, Ore., Michael Corum of Tuscon, Ariz., and Carol Tackett of Baxter Springs; six grandchildren; siblings, Pat Huff of Mission, Marilyn Wallace of Pine Mountain Valley, Ga., and Bud Lett of Derby; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Lett of Oswego; and several nieces, nephews and many friends, including a life-long friend, Leona Lawson.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Ervin Lett, Bob Lett and Bill Lett.

She will be remembered for her zest of life, sense of adventure and her keen sense of humor. Her happiest times were spent with family, cooking for others and tending to her garden.

She has been taken for cremation. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Camp Joy Worship Center. The Rev. Jeff D. Martin will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service.

Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
