Sara R. (Ramirez) Muñoz, 94, of Parsons died at 1:50 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008, at Elmhaven West.

She was born May 21, 1914, in Tarimoro, Guanajuato, Mexico, to Rafael and Victoria (Tapia) Ramirez. As a young girl, she grew up in Mexico, and at age 13 moved with her family to Parsons, where she had lived since.

Through the years, she worked as domestic help and also cooked for the Sisters of St. Joseph at St. Patrick’s.

She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Parsons. She enjoyed making “juleries,” dressing dolls, cooking and gardening. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She married Prudencio V. Muñoz on June 4, 1930, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Parsons. He preceded her in death Aug. 7, 1987.

Survivors include four sons, Rafael Muñoz of Tucson, Ariz., Prudencio Muñoz of Burlington, Antonio Muñoz of Parsons and Manuel Muñoz of El Dorado; four daughters, Dolores (Rose Carmel) Muñoz of Wichita, Maria Teresa Mansfield of Hinsdale, Ill., Clara Rosa Hinte of Amherst, Va., and Rosa Maria Smith of McCune; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a stepgreat-grandchild; four great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Joaquin Ramirez of Parsons; and a sister, Petra Bernal of Mexico.

She also was preceded in death by two brothers; four sisters; two sons, Higinio and Gerardo Muñoz; and four grandchildren.

The Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The parish rosary will be at 6 p.m. Sunday at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the rosary.
