He was born April 21, 1931, in the Strauss and McCune area to Granville Ray and Edith May (Newton) Burris. He was raised in and attended school in Parsons.
He served in the U.S. Navy.
He worked for Funk's Manufacturing in Coffeyville, retiring in 2000 because of health reasons.
In 1951 he married Louanne Rude at Eureka Springs, Ark. The couple divorced, and she preceded him in death. He later married Jean Delores Knight on Feb. 3, 1970. She preceded him in death on Feb. 28, 2002.
Survivors include two sons, David Lee Burris of Coffeyville and Denis Stuckey of Dearing; three daughters, Joy Saucedo of Edna, Denise Stukey of Cherryvale and LaDona Petch of South Coffeyville, Okla.; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Barbara Long of Parsons.
He was preceded in death by a brother, William "Billy" Burris, in 1996.
The service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Carson-Wall Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery at Coffeyville. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
