Betty J. Seeley, 85, of Parsons, died at 7:50 a.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at Elmhaven West.

She was born March 14, 1924, at Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Oran Earl and Anna Lillian (Kaiser) Watson. She attended rural schools in the Sherman City/McCune area and graduated from Oswego High School.

During World War II she worked in Wichita in the aircraft industry. After the war she returned to Parsons and was employed at Sears and at the American Legion. Her last employment was at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant, where she worked for more than eight years.

On Oct. 24, 1963, she married Walter E. Seeley Jr. in Parsons. He preceded her in death on Feb. 17, 2000.

She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and had served several years helping with funeral luncheons. She also was a volunteer with the Red Cross Bloodmobile.

Survivors include two stepsons, Dr. Michael P. Seeley and his wife, Gloria, of Fort Worth, Texas, and Mark D. Seeley of Parsons; a brother, Dr. Richard O. Watson and his wife, Janet, of Jefferson City, Mo.; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Don and Donna Seeley of Parsons; and aunt, Lela Watson of Parsons; nieces and nephews, Daniel Watson of Hendersonville, N.C., Kelly Watson-Collins and her husband, Bob, of St. Louis, David Watson and his wife, Sarah, and their son, Jaden, of Denver, Douglas Watson of San Francisco, Tim Seeley and his son, Daniel, of Porterville, Calif., Nick Seeley and his son, Chris, of Branson, Mo., and Janna Seeley LaCock and her husband, Pete, and their daughters, Janae of Overland Park and Nicole Flanigan and her husband, Tim, of Scottsdale, Ariz.

The service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Carson-Wall Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home after the service.

The family suggests memorials to either Wesley United Methodist Church or Operation Bright Touch. They may be left at or sent to the funeral home at P.O. Box 942, Parsons, 67357.
