OSWEGO -- Dorothy J. Torchia, 90, of Oswego died at 10:45 p.m. Sunday, June 14, 2009, at Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center in Pittsburg.

She was born Nov. 6, 1918, at Mackie Camp to Santo and Loretta (Caputo) Torchia.

On Nov. 9, 1935, she married Frank Torchia at St. Bridget's Catholic Church, Scammon. He preceded her in death on Jan. 16, 1989.

Mrs. Torchia owned and operated Torchia Firestone Store in Oswego with her husband.

Survivors include two sons, Tony Torchia of Overland Park and Bob Torchia of Eureka Springs, Ark.; a daughter, Kathy White of Farlington; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Bridget's Catholic Church, Scammon. Burial will follow in the St. Bridget's Catholic Cemetery. A prayer vigil will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Brenner Mortuary, Pittsburg, where the family will receive friends until 8 p.m. following the vigil. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday to sign the register book.
