WEBB CITY, Mo. — Mary K. Phillips, 86, of Webb City, Mo., a former St. Paul and Mound Valley resident, died at 5:55 a.m. Monday, March 11, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.

She was born on Jan. 5, 1927, at Inola, Okla., to John and Josephine (Anderson) Frost. She grew up at St. Paul and attended St. Paul schools, graduating from St. Francis High School at St. Paul. She attended Kansas State Teachers College at Pittsburg. She taught school in Pittsburg.

She married Jesse Phillips on Dec. 26, 1949, at Erie. He preceded her in death on July 12, 2010.

They lived in Commerce City, Colo., and Mound Valley. She taught at a preschool when they lived in Colorado. She was also a homemaker.

She was a member of Mound Valley Lighthouse Church. She enjoyed music boxes and quilting.

Survivors include three sons, Darrell Phillips of Plattville, Colo., Johnny Phillips of Mound Valley and Jerry Phillips of Carl Junction, Mo.; two daughters, Alberta McDougal of Fredricksburg, Va., and Marsha Phillips of Carl Junction, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Imogene Bainbridge of Wray, Colo., Dorothy Muse of Nebraska and Juanita Muse of Enterprise.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Harold Norton; and five brothers.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Mound Valley Lighthouse Church. The committal service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Hope Cemetery at St. Paul. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Parsons.
