FORSYTH, Mo. — Virginia Dennis, 93, former Parsons resident, died at 12:17 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, at the Cox Medical Center in Branson, Mo. She moved from Parsons to Forsyth, Mo., in 2003.

She was born Aug. 27, 1919, in Parsons to Earl Thomas and Ruth B. (Green) Holmes. She grew up in Parsons and attended Parsons High School.

On July 6, 1937, she married E. Eugene “Gene” Dennis, also of Parsons, in Hollywood, Calif. Several months later they returned to Parsons to spend the rest of their lives. Mr. Dennis preceded her in death on April 28, 1994.

Mrs. Dennis had been active in P.T.A. and scouting when her children were young. She also was a member of the former First Methodist Church in Parsons.

Survivors include a daughter, Penny Sue Hasson of Forsyth, Mo.; three grandchildren, Julie Laster of Republic, Mo., Rhonda Dennis-Ebrihimi and her husband, Hamid, of Roseville, Calif., and Melissa Owens and her husband, Jerry, of Hendersonville, N.C.; and four great-grandchildren, Jillian and Tom Ebrihimi, Kendall Jo and Keegan Rae Owns.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Ron Dennis; a grandson, Mike Hasson; and a sister, June Kuffler.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Parsons.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
