Pansy Ward, 101, of Parsons, formerly of Altamont, died at 7:12 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, at Parsons Presbyterian Manor.

She was born Jan. 31, 1912, in Lawrenceburg, Mo., to William W. and Nancy L. (Vanderpool) Ballinger.  She was raised and attended school in Chanute.

For several years, she worked as a beautician.

She married Harold Hopkins. They later divorced. On Oct. 28, 1945, she married Clark E. “Tuffy” Ward in Chanute. He preceded her in death on March 17, 1969.

Survivors include a daughter, Marge Sloan of Altamont; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers; two sisters; and an infant daughter, Nancy.

The service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery at Chanute. Friends may call at their convenience at the funeral home after 1 p.m. today.
