Frankie Lou Goins, 88, of rural Thayer died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at her home.

She was born on July 16, 1924, at Neodesha to Ralph and Lester Luthera (Seward) Wilson. She attended school in Altamont and received a teacher’s certificate through the Normal Training Program in Labette County. She later received a bachelor’s degree from what is now Pittsburg State University.

She was a school teacher for more than 65 years.

On May 2, 1952, she married Deloss “L.D.” Goins in Altamont. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include four children, David Goins, Les Goins, both of Thayer, Linda Daugherty of Mountain View, Mo., and Deland Goins of Altamont; 10 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

A granddaughter, Tyra (Goins) Smith, also preceded her in death.

The service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First Church of the Nazarene in Independence. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Pott’s Chapel, Independence.

Memorials are suggested to Harry Hynes Hospice and to Independence Bible School.
