Joyce McDaniel, 64, of Parsons died at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at Elmhaven West nursing home in Parsons. She had been in failing health.

She was born on April 25, 1948, in Parsons to Hugh W. and Wanda I. (Babcock) Minor. She was a lifelong Parsons resident and a graduate of Parsons High School.

She was employed as a psychiatric aide at the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center.

She enjoyed crocheting and needle work and was a member of Church of the Brethren in Parsons.

On Oct. 5, 1968, she married James E. McDaniel in Parsons. He preceded her in death on Nov. 24, 2001.

Survivors include two sons, Mike McDaniel and Joseph McDaniel, both of Parsons; a daughter, Jennifer McDaniel of Parsons; five grandchildren, Kyle Largent, Brock Largent, Breanna McDaniel, Kylee McDaniel and Justice Spunaugle; and a sister, Leanne Pyles and her husband, David, of Parsons.

The private service and burial will be this afternoon at Oakwood Cemetery in Parsons.

Memorials are suggested to a fund for her grandchildren’s education and may be left at or sent to Carson-Wall Funeral Home, Box 942, Parsons, 67357.
